I log-on to the control panel through a shortcut located on my desktop.
When the control panel has finished loading, all Icon and Text Links are active, and no "<" showing anywhere on the page.
All Links do work with the exception of "Legacy File Manager" and the "File Manager" links.
When I click on either of the fore mentioned links, nothing happens, and at least half of the links on the page (Both Icon and Text) are now inactive. So I click on the Refresh button and that is when the "<" appears. Not always, about 50% the time.
I have tried several times to duplicate each output in hopes of narrowing down the problem, some of the refresh events didn't produce anything but a clean page. However, about 50% of the time "<" appeared somewhere on the page, which is the reason for several images.
I was able to get Image No.3 to appear several times, even while holding down the Shift-Control keys when I clicked the Refresh button on my browser. Image No.4 appeared just a couple times, I'm sure you noticed the "Out-Of-Bounds" header background and two "<".
Its not my intention to make anyones life difficult, I just wanted to share with you what I see when I'm at the control panel. Also, if NO one else is having this problem, then
it must be my browser not parsing the code correctly. ??? I don't know! Is it my driving? possibly :)
Can I access the control panel? yes.
Can I access any component on the Control Panel without holding down the Control Key? Yes, with the exception of "Legacy File Manager" and the "File Manager" links.
Can I access the "Legacy File Manager" and the "File Manager" links? Only if I hold down the control key.
I keep my Windows XP Home Edition w/sp2 system Up-To-Date by use of Windows "Automatic Updates"
I'm using Internet Explorer v7.0.5730.11
P.S.
There is one thing to keep in mind here, and that is after a recent Windows Up-Date, my system lost the ability to display video. We have sound but no video.
I have the most recent version of Windows Media Player installed, and when we want to view a movie from a DVD or On-Line all we get is a black screen with sound only. I've tried
other media players, same thing. I was hoping that others were experiencing the same problem and Microsoft would correct the problem, soon, it's been a few months now!
So, indeed there may not be a coding issue at your end, but a display problem on mine.
